In choosing a contractor for new or renovation construction, two factors (beyond excellence in capability and craftsmanship, which go without saying), rise above all else. On these two, trustworthiness and diligence, Peter Wigand sets the standard. In projects ranging from six figure renovations, to minor repairs, Peter has over many years and projects performed at the highest level for us. We contact no one else, when embarking on a project!

Peter Wigand and Blue Chip Builders have been invaluable in identifying and resolving maintenance issues at our church. We have a campus consisting of six buildings as well as a parsonage located off site. Peter has excellent construction experience and utilizes conventional and non-destructive high tech methods such as infrared scanning to identify problems. Some typical issues that Peter has helped us identify are roof and flashing leaks, heating and cooling losses due to improper insulation and moisture damaged wood work and masonry. Peter explains the issues and potential solutions in a way that allows our board to make informed decisions and establish priorities. Peter and the skilled craftsmen at Blue Chip Builders have not only identified the problems but in many cases have also made the repairs utilizing state of the art materials and techniques.

Peter’s knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and state of the art investigative procedures have helped our church establish maintenance priorities and head off problems before any permanent damage occurs. We have been very happy in our relationship with Blue Chip Builders.

Peter Wigand of Blue Chip Builders is an excellent General Contractor.

Peter has a deep understanding of engineering, construction forensics, and repair/remediation. He brings a clear and well-reasoned approach to his projects. He was consistently responsive and flexible to our requests (which were many), even on short notice.

Peter was adept at concisely addressing complex issues that delved into the finer points of construction, and remediation/repair work (in our case: flashing, cladding, windows, doors, sealants, bricks, weather barriers, roofing, and how they all needed to be integrated). At the same time, he understood, better than most, how to craft and deliver effective written and straightforward verbal communications to us.

The workmanship Peter and his team of subcontractors delivered was of high caliber and fair value. His written reports, photo documentation, and cost schedules were well prepared and easy to follow. Peter and his team also maintained a clean work site.

I recommend Peter Wigand of Blue Chip Builders without reservation to anyone seeking a bright and pragmatic General Contractor with integrity.

We worked with Peter Wigand when we remodeled our master bathroom. We are thrilled with the final outcome, which was finished on budget and in a timely manner. Peter helped us develop a strategy for fixing our water-damaged floor and updating our 1960s bathroom into an attractive, functional space. Peter explained issues clearly and was timely with communication using email, texting, phone calls, and face-to-face conversations.

We were impressed with Peter’s effort to keep our home (and bedroom) clean while the master bathroom was under construction, and we felt very little imposition despite the work crews being in our home. We were also very happy with the subcontractors Peter hired and found everyone he brought into our home to be professional and courteous. We are happy to recommend Peter Wigand and Blue Chip Builders for anyone needing a general contractor.

Peter brings knowledge of construction systems based on years of involvement in detailed forensic engineering failure analysis examining how these systems fail. He has taken this unique knowledge base and applied all these lessons-learned to each trade his construction crews employ on a daily basis! In particular, Peter identified water entry points on my siding by using infra-red scanning techniques. He replaced the damaged siding using a unique flashing technique he has developed around doors and windows – future problems nipped in the bud!
As a realtor, I call on Peter to inspect and examine the most difficult problems my clients encounter when buying or selling a home. In my experience, crawl spaces are the Pandora’s Box standing in the way of closing a sale and moisture/mold are the “deal breakers.” How to deal with these issues have plagued agents and owners for years with no concise avenue to follow. Peter employs an industrial hygienist for mold detection/correction and addresses any structural damage to be corrected. When assessing the extent of a potential structural or moisture problem and the options to correct it, he is always spot-on with a recommendation. Honest, reliable, available, unmatched knowledge – quite frankly, I would feel lost without Blue Chip Builders!

During the past 14 years we have entered into contracts with Peter Wigand and Blue Chip Builders on numerous occasions. The work of his organization has been excellent and consistently targeted at our requirements. The work they have performed for us has ranged from minor repairs to the total renovation of our condominium. They also were the prime contractor for the $1,500,000 external renovation of Cordgrass Bay Condominiums. We have found them to be very honest and concerned with satisfying their customers.

They have been cost and time conscious while also ensuring the work is done per the existing code requirements. When required, they have the ability to obtain the needed subcontractors to perform specialty tasks. Based on our numerous experiences, we highly recommend this organization and would rehire them for future work.
